Awhile back I had the very cool opportunity to receive a glass sippy cup from an amazing store called The Glass Baby Bottle. The Glass Baby Bottle has all sorts of eco-friendly, toxin-free products…wayyyy more than just bottles. I wish I could afford to buy all of our household items from there. They have everything from reusable snack bags to cloth diapers to natural toys.
I have not written much about whole foods or eco-friendly living on this blog, but I usually buy organic or natural products every chance that I have. I am actually off to research a coconut milk homemade shampoo that I saw on another blog recently. So, yes, I am pretty crunchy compared to many of my friends!!
Thus I was extremely excited to review this cup, and although I was only asked to leave a review on the website I could not help but ask if I could share a review with other working mamas. I’ll tell you why I think this is a great cup, but then I’ll tell you why I think it’s perfect for working moms.
The best part about this cup is that it is made out of glass, thick glass. I have managed to keep my toddler from testing it, but I really think the glass would hold up from a minor topple. The second best thing for us is lid top. It is spout and valve free (yay!) and actually teachers the toddler to sip correctly…not just suck the liquid. It comes highly recommended by the ADA and is great for kids with speech or sensory impairment like my daughter. It is also wonderfully free of BPA, pthalates, PVC, and lead. We were able to switch to open cups shortly after using this sippy.
The best part for working moms is again there are no valves, no spouts, no other working parts than a toxin-free silicone lid and a freezer-safe, dishwasher-safe, microwave-safe glass cup. It is a cinch to wash!! Once you do not need the silicone sippy lid, you still have a very nice looking glass cup that your kids will love to use.
The only downside I found was that the lid is *very* easy for little hands to pry off. It is not spill-proof, leak-proof, or toddler-proof. Honestly, we only had trouble with this the first time we used it, and after that taught our daughter to leave the lid alone if she wanted the privilege of the cup. Really not much of an issue but something I would want to be upfront about.
This cup was quite the rave in our house for a couple weeks. We had strict rules about alternating it! If you are looking for a great cup, I would certainly recommend trying the Be Kind Silisipper.
Thank you to The Glass Baby Bottle for sending us this cup! We received one Be Kind Silisipper in Sunny Day Yellow. I was not influenced in any way to write this post or write a good review.
