Hello! My name is Elaine and I am one of the newest contributors on the Babywise Friendly Blog Network.
I started blogging five years ago when my husband, Dave, and I found ourselves on the road of infertility. Being a quiet person by nature, my openness and honesty during one of the most vulnerable times of my life has always astounded me to some degree. As time has gone on I have realized that God has taken my journey through infertility and the blog that was created as a result of going through all that, and He has given me a platform to use my voice to share about His faithfulness through infertility and life beyond infertility.
In a nutshell, we turned in adoption paperwork in April 2009 and were told that very same day there was a baby available for adoption in June, if we were interested. Um, yes, we were certainly interested and 48 days later I witnessed our oldest daughter’s entry into this world through the very gracious gift of her birth mother who wanted me there for delivery.
Meet Little Bug. 4 years old. Never meets a stranger. Loves to dress up and then go play in the mud. Her personality (and appetite) is bigger than Texas. She has the negotiation skills of a attorney. God is going to do something amazing through this child. At least that is what I am hanging onto as I trust the Lord to guide me in raising this firecracker of a little girl.
Less than two years after Little Bug was born, God basically started the adoption process for us again when I was contacted by a friend who wanted to know if we wanted to pursue another adoption situation via her adoption lawyer. We said yes. We waited 6 long weeks to find out if we would be chosen to parent the baby, a girl, only to find out the expectant mom had decided she no longer wanted to work with that lawyer. She had moved on to who knows what and we moved on as well – back to the agency/attorney who had conducted Little Bug’s adoption. It was another extremely quick match, but this time there was an extra twist. We learned the expectant mom we had been matched with was actually the very same woman who had been working with our friend’s lawyer. God is in control of all things and the adoption of our second daughter, Sweet Pea, is a true reminder of that.
Meet Sweet Pea. 2 years old and basically the polar-opposite of her sister. She is reserved and has a smile that lights up the room. As a baby she was always so laid-back and just purely happy. As a two year old she is starting to speak her mind on matters and let the world know what she wants. Her name for my blog couldn’t be more fitting for her because she truly is the sweetest little girl..
Dave and I have been married for six years and while he is off being a computer nerd every day, I am a stay-at-home-mom to our two daughters. It is truly my dream and I am so grateful my husband’s job allows me to stay at home with our children. I got my degree in education, taught 4th grade in the public school system for four years, but my heart was always set on just being a wife and mother. My home is my focus and I try to be intentional about everything that I do. Little Bug and Sweet Pea are more than my heart ever knew could be possible, and while there are days where I wish I could just escape for 10 minutes of complete and utter peace, I wouldn’t trade my role in this world right now for anything.
Over the past five years I have blogged through my infertility journey, through my daughters’ adoptions, through motherhood and figuring out babies via Babywise, through parenting a strong-willed daughter (more to come on this one as she is only 4!) and God’s faithfulness through it all. This fall our family is beginning a brand new journey – homeschooling – which I plan to blog about as well.
If you are finding my blog for the first time through the Babywise Friendly Blog Network, I am happy you have found my little corner of the internet and I hope you will return again!
Elaine blogs at Faithfully Infertile, and we are very excited to have her as a part of this network of bloggers and moms!
